Dr Brendah Akankunda, PhD is a seasoned Energy Economics and Sustainability Reporting Specialist with extensive experience in energy economics, governance, sustainability, electric mobility, energy efficiency, research, accounting, investment, and finance within the African energy transition. She holds a PhD in Energy Economics and Governance from Makerere University, a Master’s of Science in Accounting and Finance from Makerere University and a Bachelor of Commerce from Makerere University. Among other roles, Brendah is a Lecturer at Makerere University Business School. Brendah has also worked as a Renewable Energy Consultant for organizations such as WWF and Ecological Christian Organization (ECO), Dan Church Aid (DCA), and the World Resources Institute (WRI), where she led projects focusing on renewable energy development, capacity building, and environmental impact assessment. Her responsibilities included conducting situation analyses, developing fundraising strategies, and establishing renewable energy information flow systems. In addition to her academic and consultancy roles, Brendah has contributed to policy discussions, provided expert insights, and engaged with policymakers and regulatory bodies to influence decisions in the energy sector. She is an active member of professional associations such as the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), Energy Efficiency Association of Uganda (EEAU), Institute of Certified Public Accountant (ICPAU), and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Brendah has demonstrated expertise in designing and delivering comprehensive course materials, conducting engaging lectures, and collaborating with industry experts to advance understanding in energy-related economic and governance challenges.
